From Appalachia & The United Kingdom

Last fall, when the 'Not A Ukulele' Tour took me to San Francisco, I spent several evenings jumping across trolley tracks and huffing up-hill, both ways, mandolin in hand, to play some open mic's and meet the people.

One such evening, I happened across a fellow musician/traveler/handsome-person, who hailed all the way from the United Kingdom. The gentleman's name was Robert Jackson and the two of us became quick friends. We compared travelogues and skipped merrily along, making occasional observations about the cultural and sociopolitical dynamics betwixt "this saloon" and "yonder semi-adjacent establishment".

Thereafter, having sworn ourselves to be Friends For Life, we parted ways. I returned home to spend entirely-too-much-time making a beautiful record (which will be done any day now) and Robert traveled on to make The Good Music, as his type does.

I'm excited to announce that our paths will cross again at an EARLY SHOW this SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18th in Saint Louis!! Won't you join us?

Bryan Ranney Band Returns to Colorado!

2016 Tour Dates Announced!
Nederland, Alma, Salida, & Denver

Bryan Ranney Band’s ‘Not A Ukulele’ Tour Returns to Colorado this summer, delighting listeners with their catchy, original brand of alternative-folk music! Mandolinist and singer, Bryan Ranney leads a band of skilled improvisors. Brought up in the hard-knock Saint Louis music scene, each member is a fine representative of the vibrant, melting-pot, Americana-culture of acoustic blues, hippie-bluegrass, and river-town roots music that pervades the region. A truly gifted performer, Ranney seduces his audience with simple melodies, beautiful phrasing and a hypnotic groove. The characters that inhabit his songs can be dark and complex, but the poetry that renders them is genuine and unembellished. In concert, Bryan Ranney Band will warm your heart and leave you buzzing long after the final applause.
